Recycle Zone Introduces A Whole New Way To Recycle And Get Paid For Doing It

A new recycling service has opened in North Olmsted called Recycle Zone. Located on Lorain Road just east of the
new Stearns-Crocker extension, the drop off center sits between a bank and a car wash – something new for a recycling
center. The new company offers a retail slant to a service that previously was limited to commerce and industry.

Recycle Zone Drop Off Center offers recycling for residents and businesses so they can drop off items at the center and
receive payment for their recycling value. The company makes recycling as easy and convenient as possible. Instead
of having to drive into an ugly, messy junkyard, customers drive through an enclosed garage, out of the elements, and
even get help with unloading. The center is kept clean and orderly so all members of the family will feel comfortable
there.

Recycle Zone accepts mostly metal items such as aluminum, steel, brass and copper. Customers will find many items
around their home or business they have held onto for a long time, like metal doors and shelves or pipes from a
remodeling job. These items have value and can be traded in for cash at the drop off center. A complete listing of the
types of items the Recycle Zone accepts – and their current values – is listed at the company website.

Schools, churches and organizations interested in using the Recycle Zone as part of a fundraising program can contact
us for information on how to do that. It’s easy and you will make money on things you were going to throw away
anyway.

The drop off center will be open Monday through Saturday – check our website for operating hours.

Recycle Zone offers a pick up service for larger volumes or even if a resident cannot get to the center. Commercial and
industrial customers can call for pick-up or we can leave one of our roll-off truck boxes if needed. Just call the center
and some arrangement will be made. We aim to make recycling easy for all customers.

Recycling in this manner not only makes financial sense for the customer but it makes good sense for our cities and
our country, too. When the city or county picks up from your tree lawn that material goes to a landfill – our recycled
material goes right back into the production stream. This saves on the energy needed to mine our natural resources and
the energy used to convert ores into metal. Our website has more information on the big picture of the savings made by
recycling.

NORTH OLMSTEDAbout 320 million aluminum cans are used every day in the United States.

Do the math because many of those cans are not being recycled, said Bill Ivancic, vice president of Recycle Zone Drop Off Center located at 28820 Lorain Road in North Olmsted.

The new company pays customers on-the-spot for their recyclables.

"The idea behind Recycle Zone is to make it as easy and convenient as possible for people to recycle," Ivancic said. "You're not driving into the typical scrap or junk yard. This is an enclosed garage with friendly staff to wait on you."

Everything from refrigerators to motorcycle batteries can be brought in. Staff members weigh each item and pay cash based on current market values and the number on the scale.

Recycle Zone accepts aluminum, copper, brass, appliances, steel, metals, automobile batteries and air conditioners.

"Basically anything with metal," Ivancic said.

The center will also clear freon, a group of chemicals determined to cause of ozone layer damage and significant health risks, from appliance lines.

"You don't want to cut refrigerator lines yourself, and put the item on the curb and let freon escape into the atmosphere," Ivancic said.

Recycle Zone is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The facility is closed on Sunday.

Pickup services and fundraising opportunities are also available.
